The Mystery of the Tolling Bell (retitled Mystery of the Tolling Bell for the revision) is the twenty-third volume in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series.
Plot summary[]
Nancy, Bess, and George travel to a picturesque seaside town in search of Carson Drew's missing client. When Carson fails to join the girls, leading to a mystery involving his disappearance and a nearby cliffside cave inhabited by a ghost and his tolling bell. When she investigates the cliffs Nancy Drew is overcome by fumes and faints. After a short time Nancy revives but the fumes are still strong. Unable to work out where they are coming from, Nancy is overcome once more and faints again. As she come back to semi-consciousness, Nancy thinks she can hear voices. Then she feels herself being lifted and Nancy faints yet again. When she wakes, Nancy is well away from where her fainting spell happened. With the help of her friends, can Nancy find out what is happening at the mysterious cliffs!
